On November 4th 2010, CFO of AVIC, Mr. Gu Huizhong, and CEO of Groupama, Mr Jean Azema, signed a letter of intent at the Elysée Palace. The Chinese President Hu Jintao and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy attended the signing ceremony.
The registered capital of the future company is around 500 million CNY, AVIC and Groupama holding 50% shares respectively. Both sides believed that the cooperation would provide more reliable security service for clients, improve the competitiveness of AVIC internationally, and thus extend the aviation industry chain widely. Meanwhile, Groupama would provide better products and services for Chinese insurance market, which helps enterprises, ordinary residents and farmers obtain broader insurance coverage.
Groupama Insurance (China) Limited was approved to enter Chinese market by CIRC in June 2003. It is the earliest professional agricultural insurance company in China permitted by CIRC, and the only foreign insurance company specialized in agricultural insurance as well.
